As part of its commitment to mainstream occupational safety and health in the workplace, NAMRIA, in partnership with the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), conducted the Earthquake and Landslide Search and Rescue Orientation Course (ELSAROC) at the NAMRIA Lecture Hall on 21 March 2024 and at the MMDA Training Center, Napindan Area on 22-23 March 2024.
The ELSAROC is a three-day comprehensive course designed to develop teams of responders capable of immediate action in the face of collapsed structures and landslides. The course involves interactive lectures, pre and post-tests, simulations, and drills. The participants were given scenarios that measured their ability to immediately plan, execute, and respond to earthquake and landslide search and rescue missions. The MMDA trainers played the role of victims during the simulations. Thirty-two (32) participants, composed of NAMRIA Safety and Health Committee members and representatives from each branch, completed the course.
