In keeping  with the spirits of volunteerism and compassion, the NAMRIA personnel, through the Bayanihang Bayan Desk (BBD), formally handed over the proceeds of the  Puso para sa Marawi fundraising project to the officials of the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) in a simple ceremony held at the NAMRIA Fort A. Bonifacio office in Taguig City on 02 October 2017. The turnover marks the culmination of the “month-long” fundraising activity through the Miss NAMRIA Bayanihang Bayan (NBB) contest. Ms. Liberty L. Caluya of the Mapping and Geodesy Branch was proclaimed Miss NBB 2017 last 29 September.

PRC Fund Generation Director Geena Mijares and Events and Emergency Giving Officer Rizza Genil gratefully received the check on behalf of PRC Chairperson and Chief Executive Officer, Senator Richard J. In her acceptance speech, PRC Director Mijares thanked the NAMRIA management and personnel for their generosity in extending help to the thousands of internally-displaced persons as a result of the Marawi Siege. She also gave updates on the current situation in Marawi and the rehabilitation efforts being done by the government with the help of various sectoral and people’s organizations.

In the same ceremony, NAMRIA BBD also gave financial assistance to 13 personnel who unfortunately lost their valuable belongings to a fire that razed the office staff house last 01 September. Dr. Tiangco, BBD Focal Person Quodala, and Miss NBB 2017 Caluya distributed envelopes with cash amounting to two thousand pesos each to all the fire victims.
