UKHO assessment visit strengthens preparations for the joint hydrographic survey
Representatives from the United Kingdom Hydrographic Office (UKHO) visited the Philippines from 22 June to 02 July 2026 to assess the hydrographic survey capabilities of the National Mapping and Resource Information Authority (NAMRIA) and the Philippine Navy’s Naval Meteorological and Oceanographic Center (NAVMETOC). The assessment visit was made in preparation for a planned joint hydrographic survey. As part of the agency’s continuing efforts under the leadership and guidance of NAMRIA Administrator Peter N. Tiangco, PhD, CESO I, the assessment visit reinforces NAMRIA’s commitment to strengthening international collaboration and advancing hydrographic survey capabilities.

NAMRIA strengthens PGRS modernization efforts through Bernese 5.4 Workshop
Twelve technical personnel from the National Mapping and Resource Information Authority (NAMRIA) and two personnel from the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) completed a five-day training workshop on the latest version of the Bernese Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) Software (Version 5.4) held at the NAMRIA Boardroom from 22 to 26 June 2026. As part of the agency’s continuing efforts under the guidance and leadership of NAMRIA Administrator Peter N. Tiangco, PhD, CESO I, the workshop supports the modernization of the Philippine Geodetic Reference System (PGRS) and the strengthening of the country’s geodetic capabilities. The workshop featured technical sessions conducted by Mr. Simon Fuller and Mr. Eldar Rubinov of Position++, an Australian company specializing in GNSS processing services, consultation, and geodetic adjustment solutions that cater to corporations and government agencies worldwide.
