Trainings / Workshops | Jois Roueli O. Ferrer | 25 May 2023 | Print

A virtual orientation assembly for the NAMRIA youth entitled "It's up to YOUth" was conducted in line with the celebration of the 2023 Philippines' Earth Day. The assembly, which was the very first activity of the NAMRIA Youth Desk, was held via Zoom on 28 April 2023.

The activity aimed to support the efforts of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) in strengthening its partnership with the youth sector in the implementation of ENR-related undertakings. It also sought to build NAMRIA's pool of creative and technical young minds for ENR and youth-related programs.

The activity was also aligned with the celebration of the 2023 Philippines' Earth Day with the theme Invest in Our Planet. The theme highlighted the importance of allocating time, resources, and efforts toward finding solutions to the environmental challenges.

The activity was conducted through the leadership of NAMRIA Administrator, Usec. Peter N. Tiangco, PhD and with the guidance of the agency's Morale and Welfare Program. Support Services Branch (SSB) Director and Morale and Welfare Program Head Ms. Concepcion A. Bringas gave the opening remarks. Human Resources Management Section-Administrative Division Officer in Charge (OIC) Ms. Zenaida A. Leaño also gave a message. Both Ms. Bringas and Ms. Leaño expressed their excitement about NAMRIA Youth Desk's first-ever assembly, and their optimism on its future endeavors.

NAMRIA's Principal Youth Desk Officer Ms. Arianne Rose E. Borlaza of the Resource Data Analysis Branch (RDAB) and Alternate Youth Desk Officer Jois Roueli O. Ferrer of the Geospatial Information System Management Branch (GISMB) facilitated the activity. The program was divided into three parts: an orientation on the NAMRIA Youth Desk and an interactive getting-to-know activity; a discussion on the environment and climate change; and a breakout session and presentation of the proposed ENR and youth-related activities for the year 2023. At the end of the assembly, Ms. Borlaza left a question for the NAMRIA youth participants to ponder on: "What will you do? It's up to YOUth."
