NAMRIA Hydrography Branch holds Salamat, Mabuhay tribute event for its 2022 retirees

NAMRIA, through the leadership of its Administrator, Usec. Peter N. Tiangco, PhD, conducted a hybrid Salamat, Mabuhay tribute event in honor of the 12 retiring employees of the agency’s Hydrography Branch (HB). HB, led by Officer in Charge (OIC)-Dir., Capt. Antonio G. Valenzuela, Jr., facilitated the conduct of the event, which was held at the HB Conference Room, and streamed via Zoom and Facebook Live on 11 November 2022.
 
The 12 employees, comprising those who have already retired and are retiring this 2022, were given tribute in accordance with Civil Service Commission Memorandum Circular Number 07, series of 1998. The retiring employees with their respective lengths of service to the agency are the following: CPO Reynaldo R. Panganiban, 38 years; CPO Enrique G. Camaira, Jr., 46 years; PO2 Arnulfo F. Gragasin, 41 years; PO2 Redentor S. Gabato, 37 years; PO3 Rolando N. Julito, 42 years; PO3 Roxy B. Zamora, 40 years; SN1 Bernie P. Toel, 38 years; SN1 Bernabe A. Remo, 38 years; SN1 Reynaldo C. Simeon, 41 years; and, SN1 Rico A. Botante, Jr., and Mr. Renato E. Eguia, 44 years, from the Survey Support Division (SSD); and Engr. Jesus R. Perez de Tagle, 23 years, from the Nautical Charting Division.

The event was formally opened by OIC-Assistant Director for Operations, Capt. Jose T. Arevalo Jr. It was followed by a video presentation of the retirees’ short biographies. One of the highlights of the tribute was the showing of a video compilation of greetings and farewell messages from friends and colleagues from the branch. OIC-Assistant Director for Administration, Capt. Carter S. Luma-ang expressed his gratitude for the learning experiences he and the retirees shared in NAMRIA. In response, Chief Petty Officer Panganiban, Petty Officers Zamora and Gragasin, Seaman Remo, Mr. Eguia, and Engineer Perez de Tagle, who were all present during the event at the HB Conference Room, reminisced on their colorful days in the agency and conveyed their appreciation to the management for its support and guidance. Chief Petty Officer Camaira and Petty Officer Gabato, who attended via Zoom, also gave their thanks to the agency.

In his message, NAMRIA Administrator Tiangco conveyed his appreciation to the retiring employees for their significant accomplishments and contributions to the agency. He said that their retirement is the time to reap the fruits of their hard work and to focus more on doing what they want most to do. Other NAMRIA officials who gave farewell messages were DA Efren P. Carandang and DA John Santiago F. Fabic.
 
OIC-Director, Captain Valenzuela formally concluded the tribute with his closing remarks. He expressed his gratitude to the retirees for serving the agency, exerting efforts, and making sacrifices over the years. He also thanked and acknowledged the retirees’ families and loved ones for their understanding and support.

SSD Chief Cdr. Teodoro D. Pasahol, BRP Hydrographer Presbitero Commanding Officer Cdr. Darwin A. Dela Cruz, Maritime Affairs Division Chief LCdr. Lorena Jasmin D. Lerio, and Physical Oceanography Division Chief Dennis Arsenio B. Bringas were also present during the event.
 
The Salamat, Mabuhay tribute event was organized by HB, with assistance from the Geospatial Information System Management Branch (GISMB). Ens. Jason L. Mallapre and P/Ens. Ashley Riz A. Advincula from SSD hosted the event, while Mr. Jeffrey M. Aguillon and P/Ens. Ailyn G. Atienza from GISMB and HB, respectively, spearheaded its virtual streaming.
