Proving once again its formidable effort, NAMRIA emerged as champion in the 2022 PMSEA Bowling Tournament held at the Puyat Sports Baguio, Baguio Center Mall, Baguio City on 16 November 2022. The agency had previously won the championship in the tournaments held in 2016, 2018, and 2019, and in the bowling event of the 2019 and 2022 DENR Inter-Agency Sportsfest.

 

The 2022 tournament officially started with the welcome remarks of Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) Regional Office (RO) No. I Regional Director Socrates G. Gaerlan. NAMRIA fielded two teams: NAMRIA A and NAMRIA B. The first team, NAMRIA A, was composed of team captain Amelito M. Dela Cruz with the following as members: Brian A. Dela Cruz, Philip G. Serazon, Floren C. Madrilejo, Aileen H. Argente, Edmir D. Licad, Jan Lois A. Bartolome, and William A. Padilla, Jr. The second team, NAMRIA B, was composed of team captain Noel R. Vega with the following as members: Jeffrey A. Quodala, Rogelio D. Dais, Jr., Elena A. Reyes, Raymond O. Sicad, Manuel C. Eloriaga, and Ana Cristina S. Macato.

 

NAMRIA B capped a total score of 2,035 points at the end of the three-game tournament. The NAMRIA B players outclassed 18 other teams in the event that formed part of the four-day 68th Annual National Mine Safety and Environment Conference. NAMRIA B also won two special awards, namely: Highest Team Single and Highest Female Single for Ms. Macato. Cash prizes were also given to NAMRIA A Team Captain Dela Cruz and NAMRIA B’s Ms. Macato for their three consecutive strikes in a game. With a total score of 1,792 points, NAMRIA A placed tenth overall.

 

The other teams that participated in the tournament were from the Benguet Corporation (BC) and BC-Irisan Lime Project, Graymont (Philippines) Inc, Itogon Suyoc Resources Incorporation, Local Government Unit of Irisan, Baguio City, Masbate Gold Project, MGB Central Office (CO) and ROs of Cordillera Administrative Region No. I, and No. IV-CALABARZON-Team Pacific, Mountain Rock Powder Corp., Philex Mining Corporation (PMC) Teams A and B, Philippine Society of Mining Engineers-Northern Luzon and Visayas Chapters, Society of Metallurgical Engineers of the Philippines, and Timber and Lime Multi-Purpose Cooperative. MGB CO and PMC Team A, placed second and third, respectively.
