NAMRIA secures its ISO 9001:2015 recertification for another three years after meeting the criteria for the overall effectiveness of the agency’s system processes and documentation for Mapping and Geospatial Information Management.  NAMRIA’s certification will be valid from 2021 to 2024.  Certification International Philippines, Inc. (CIP) conducted the reassessment audit of NAMRIA virtually, owing to the COVID-19 pandemic, on 25-27 August 2021.  The decision was announced following the presentation of the audit findings during the closing meeting.  The CIP auditors were Mr. Edgardo V. Eleria, as lead, and Ms. Liza G. Rosal and Dr. Ernesto O. de la Cruz as his team members.

ISO 9001, as defined in the ISO website (https://www.iso.org/iso-9001-quality-management.html), sets out the criteria for a quality management system and “is based on a number of quality management principles including a strong customer focus, the motivation and implication of top management, the process approach and continual improvement.”

Under the leadership of Usec. Peter N. Tiangco, PhD, NAMRIA first achieved its certification to ISO 9001:2008 (Quality Management Systems) on 02 October 2012.  The agency transitioned to ISO 9001:2015 in 2018 and has since been passing its surveillance audit every year.  To date, Officer in Charge-Deputy Administrator John Santiago F. Fabic serves as NAMRIA Quality Management Representative (QMR), with Geospatial Information System Management Branch (GISMB) Assistant Director Benjamin P. Balais as Deputy QMR.
