In line with NAMRIA’s commitment to sustain its Quality Management System (QMS) certification to ISO 9001:2015, an online training course on Auditing QMS was held on 25-28 May 2021.  Participated in by 25 NAMRIA officials and employees, the training course was a collaborative effort between the agency and the Development Academy of the Philippines (DAP).  Mr. Antonio P. Santos from the Advocacy and Institutional Development Office of DAP served as the resource speaker.
The four-day learning event enabled the participants to better understand the structure and interpretation of the requirements of ISO 9001:2015 certification from the context of an internal auditor.  The following are the specific topics for the training course: (a) Auditing Concepts and Terminologies, (b) Understanding the QMS Requirements, (c) Initiating the Audit, (d) Preparing for the Audit, (e) Conducting the Audit, (f) Reporting the Audit Results, (g) Audit Role Play, and (h) Audit Evaluation.  The lectures were supported by workshops and situational problem exercises to develop and improve the auditing skills of the participants.  Before the training course, an online orientation meeting on ISO standards and the QMS was held on 21 May 2021.  Following the learning event, the participants will be added to the pool of Internal Quality Audit (IQA) auditors of the NAMRIA ISO QMS 9001:2015 IQA Committee.
Under the leadership of NAMRIA Administrator, Usec. Peter N. Tiangco, PhD, NAMRIA has achieved continued certification to ISO 9001:2015 for Mapping and Geospatial Information Management.  The agency passed the second surveillance audit held in September 2020.  OIC Deputy Administrator John Santiago F.
