News & Event(s) | Jeff Hunt | 12 December 2017 | Print

NAMRIA, through the Geomatics training Center (GTC) of the Geospatial Information Systems Management Branch (GISMB), recently conducted an advanced GIS training program using Quantum Geographic Information System (QGIS) software with participants from Local Government Units (LGUs) in Mindanao. The training was held at the Ruby function room of the Pinnacle Hotel and Suites, Santa Ana-Poblacion Davao City on 04-08 December 2017.

It was the fourth training activity conducted under the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for this year between NAMRIA and the Local Government Academy (LGA) of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).  The memorandum covers the conduct of six GIS training programs with participants from different LGUs all over the country.  The training was designed to build the capability of the LGUs in the utilization of GIS technology as a vital tool for disaster preparedness, response and rebuilding, climate change adaptation, and other applications related to public administration and governance.
