NAMRIA conducts IEC for Modernization of the Philippine Geodetic Reference System in Bauang, La Union

NAMRIA, through the Mapping and Geodesy Division (MGB) and in cooperation with the Geospatial Information Services Division of the Geospatial Information and Systems Management Branch and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR)  Region I, conducted an Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) campaign on the Modernization of the Philippine Geodetic Reference System (PGRS). The event was held at Marand Resort and Spa in Bauang, La Union on 26 September 2017.

This is the second leg of the series of IEC on the Modernization of the PGRS, and the first one in the regions. The program was launched in Dusit Thani Hotel in Ayala Center, Makati City last 26 May 2017.

In his keynote speech, MGB Director Ruel DM. Belen thanked all the attendees for accepting the invitation of NAMRIA. He briefly discussed the journey of NAMRIA and series of events that led to the Modernization of PGRS.

Cayapan for "Accomplsiments of the Modernization", Engr. Brian A. Dela Cruz for “Implications of Modernization: Mapping”, Engr. Bien Cruz for “Implications of Modernization: Cadastre”, Engr. Narciso Aragon for “Implications of Modernization: Cadastre, Region I Perspective”, Engr. Alma Balladares for ” The Philippine Active Geodetic Network”, and Engr. Bien G. Carcellar for “Research and Development in Support of the PGRS Modernization”.

Assistant Director Ofelia T. Castro gave the closing remarks and thanked all those who attended, presented at, and organized the IEC event. She made special mention to the presenters who came all the way from Manila to join the activities. She also thanked DENR Region 1 for their unwavering support in the preparation and conduct of the event.  On behalf of Administrator Peter N. Tiangco, Assistant Director Castro gave NAMRIA’s assurance of a continuing deep commitment to ensure the development of Philippine Mapping and Surveying, for the benefit of our country and its citizens.
