On behalf of the NAMRIA Administrator, Usec. Peter N. Tiangco, PhD, Chief of Staff (CoS) Ms. Rowena E. Bongalos and the NAMRIA athletes attended the awarding ceremony of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Inter-Agency Sportsfest 2022, where NAMRIA bagged its fifth consecutive overall championship victory. The awarding ceremony was held at the DENR Multi-Purpose Building in Diliman, Quezon City on 28 November 2022. NAMRIA has been the overall champion in the DENR Inter-Agency Sportsfest since 2016.

 

 

NAMRIA was declared as champion in seven events of the DENR Inter-Agency Sportsfest 2022, namely: darts, bowling, badminton, marathon, cycling, women’s volleyball, and women’s table tennis. The agency ranked first in men’s volleyball and men’s table tennis, second in basketball, and third in chess.

 

In the individual awards category, Mr. Rogelio D. Dais was proclaimed as the Male Highest Average Scorer, while Ms. Elena A. Reyes as the Female Highest Triple Game in Pinfalls and Female Highest Single Game Scorer in bowling; Engr. Paulo R. Nachor got the Most Highlights in darts; For. Francis Q. Bote was recognized as part of the "mythical five" in basketball; Ms. Rebecca G. Burden was awarded the Best Setter, Engr. Charisma Victoria D. Cayapan the Best Digger, and Ms. Madel G. Latonera the Best Spiker and MVP in the women’s volleyball category; and, Mr. Kevin C. Sumile was declared as the Best Setter and SN3 Lindon M. De Leon as the Best Digger in the men’s volleyball category.

 

The opening of the DENR sportsfest was held on 30 May 2022 after a two-year break due to the pandemic. DENR Undersecretary Atty. Ernesto D. Adobo, Jr. served as the chairperson for the DENR Inter-Agency Sportfest 2022, with Kalipunan ng Kawani sa Kagawaran ng Kalikasan (K4) National President Atty. Elizabeth Alexandra Mary Pimentel as the vice-chairperson.

 

Attorney Pimentel gave the opening remarks for the awarding ceremony. She welcomed the attendees and also thanked the sports coordinators and all DENR employees who participated in the events. DENR Sec. Maria Antonia Yulo-Loyzaga, together with her husband and former professional basketball player Joaquin "Chito" Loyzaga, DENR officials, and K4 union officers, handed out trophies, certificates, and medals to the winners. Secretary Loyzaga delivered an inspirational message afterwards. The event was emceed by Ms. Andrea Palma and Mr. Randy Nuñez of DENR.
