Volume XXXIV, Issue No. 15
By: Jeff N. Hunt

NAMRIA was once again tapped by the Local Government Academy (LGA) of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) to conduct a training on basic Geographic Information System (GIS). The virtual training was held on 23-27 May 2022, and was participated in by 41 personnel from DILG Region IV-B (MIMAROPA). The holding of the training emanated from the formal request made by LGA Executive Director Thelma T. Vecina, CESO IV to NAMRIA Administrator, Usec. Peter N. Tiangco, PhD. There is a three (3)-year partnership agreement between the two agencies. The agreement is for enhancing the capabilities of local government units on GIS. The focus is on GIS as a tool for local development planning, disaster preparedness, and climate change mitigation and adaptation programs.
