By: Vener Quintin C. Taguba, Jr.

Music heals, inspires people, and generates joy and happiness.

Thirty talented NAMRIA officials and employees shared gifts and blessings of music through songs and dances to the beloved grandmothers and grandfathers of the Hospicio de San Jose (HDSJ) in Quiapo, Manila last 14 December 2017. The activity was the Christmas outreach program of the agency dubbed as “Pamaskong Handog ng NAMRIA para kay Lolo at Lola.” The group was led by the following officials: Chief of Staff (COS) Rowena E. Bongalos, Support Services Brach (SSB) Director Febrina E. Damaso, and Mapping and Geodesy Branch Assistant Director Ofelia T. Castro.

Mr. Jeffrey A. Quodala of the Geospatial Information Management Branch (GISMB) served as emcee of the program. The program started with a duet by Ms. Rosalyn D. Sontillanosa of GISMB and Mr. Gerben A. Elequin of SSB where they sang  “Have Yourself A Little Merry Christmas.” The duet was followed by another song number, a medley of Christmas carols by a group representing the different branches of the agency. Meanwhile, dancers led by COS Bongalos, Director Damaso, and Assistant Director Castro performed to the tune of Iñigo Pascual’s “Dahil sa ‘yo.”

After the song and dance numbers, NAMRIA’s gifts of groceries and toiletries were handed over to the HDSJ.

Ms. Ellen Rabat, HDSJ Coordinator for the Elders, thanked NAMRIA for the visit then enjoined the residents to say thank you as well. On cue, the "lolos and lolas" broke into a thank you song which the NAMRIA group enjoyed in turn.
