Accreditations | Maria Romina D. Pe Benito | 22 September 2020 | Print

NAMRIA achieved continued certification to ISO 9001:2015 for Mapping and Geospatial Information Management after it hurdled the second surveillance audit of its Quality Management System (QMS).  The audit was conducted by Certification International Philippines, Inc. (CIP) on 14-15 September 2020 through virtual conference owing to the COVID-19 pandemic.  The decision from CIP was announced following the presentation of audit findings held during the closing meeting.  According to the CIP audit findings, the organization’s compliance to relevant requirements of the standards was confirmed with three (3) potential nonconformities and nine (9) observations. The CIP auditors were Ms. Janet N. Safranca, team leader, and team members Ms. Lyn Angela M. Cayetano and Mr. Jose R. Amata.

NAMRIA’s ISO 9001:2015 certification took effect on 19 September 2018 and is valid until 01 October 2021, subject to satisfactory results of annual surveillance audits.  The ISO 9000 family is described in the ISO website at link https://www.iso.org/iso-9001-quality-management.html as “the world's most best-known quality management standard for companies and organizations of any size.” According to the website, “ISO 9001:2015 specifies requirements for a quality management system when an organization: a) needs to demonstrate its ability to consistently provide products and services that meet customer and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements, and b) aims to enhance customer satisfaction through the effective application of the system, including processes for improvement of the system and the assurance of conformity to customer and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements.”

NAMRIA Administrator Tiangco gave the go signal for the agency to start its quest to work towards ISO certification in 2011 and since then has very well supported all of the requisite activities.  NAMRIA first successfully achieved certification to ISO 9001:2008 or QMS standards officially on 02 October 2012. NAMRIA Geospatial Information System Management Branch (GISMB) Director John Santiago F. Fabic serves to date as the NAMRIA Quality Management Representative (QMR).  GISMB Assistant Director Benjamin P. Balais is the Deputy QMR.
