By: Maria Romina Pe Benito

NAMRIA Administrator Peter N. Tiangco signed, on behalf of the agency, a memorandum of agreement with officials of MBIN Networx Tech Solutions Corporation and the National Safety Network Foundation (NSNF) at the NAMRIA main office in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City on 11 September 2015.  The MOA is intended for conducting Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) activities focusing on the use of the Philippine Geoportal System (PGS), including the provision of the required training materials.  The PGS was developed by NAMRIA to be the repository of fundamental geospatial datasets of the different agencies of the government for integration onto a common and authoritative basemap.  The undertaking aims to result in fully trained local government staff, public school teachers, and other concerned citizens who are capable of utilizing the map layers in the PGS for disaster risk management and mitigation.  MBIN Networx is a private corporation which aims, through its affiliate training arm the NSNF, to provide local government units and public school teachers with tools to better understand the nature of geologic hazards and disaster management.
