NAMRIA hosted flag raising ceremony under DENR Sec. Roy Cimatu

NAMRIA hosted its first ever flag raising ceremony under Sec. Roy A. Cimatu at the DENR central office in Quezon City on 24 July 2017.  Deputy Administrator Jose C. Cabanayan, Jr. led the prayer followed by the singing of the Philippine National Anthem led by Geodesy Division's Carmelita Cecile A. Cal Ortiz. NAMRIA Administrator Peter N. Tiangco led the Panunumpa ng Katapatan sa Watawat ng Pilipinas. Geospatial Information Services Division Chief Maria Romina dR. Pe Benito acted as the emcee for the event.

In his message, Administrator Tiangco said that NAMRIA is pleased and grateful that DENR Secretary Cimatu and other officials and employees of our DENR family were able to join NAMRIA’s 30th anniversary celebration.

He also enumerated some accomplishments of the agency to date.  These include, among others: NAMRIA’s participation in the installation of the Philippine Flag in the shallowest area of the Philippine Rise; participation in the Interagency Marine Scientific Research 2017 in the West Philippine Sea to support maritime activities in the area; provided for Marawi City, relevant geospatial information as agency's support for its liberation; launched the information, education, communication campaign on the Modernization of the recent Philippine Geodetic Reference System; provided technical assistance in the preparation of maps and draft legislative bills on the final forest limits of the country, and the validation of the general location of areas under the National Integrated Protected Area System and proclaimed areas; and continued support for the furtherance of gender equality and women empowerment in the agency. NAMRIA, also, remains certified to ISO 9001:2008 and is  aiming for migration to ISO 9001:2015.  We are currently serving as benchmark of other government agencies in comparing or assessing their own competencies in the civil service commission Program to Institutionalize Meritocracy and Excellence in Human Resource Management or PRIME-HRM.
 
The event concluded with the singing of the DENR Hymn.
